When they return from hols, they arrive to the news that Hogwarts is restarting the tradition of the Yule Ball- after a fashion. It's open to everyone (they claim for inclusiveness, but a headcount of the older students suggests a more practical reason) and the professors seem to be treating it as a sort of Hogwarts wide bonding event. At least, they keep stressing how it's about "school unity" and suggesting that students branch outside their normal friend groups. Even the Heads of Houses are reluctantly suggesting their students should interact more with the other Houses. Alli ignores the whole spiel for the important things: there's a party! Dates and dancing and food and merriment! She is so in.
The next time she meets up with her friends, she's grinning maniacally. "Sooo? We're going, right? Oh man, I need to find a date, don't I? And an outfit! Merlin's apples this is going to be great."
